The International Online Conference “Digital Education 2024” is organized by the Center for Educational Technologies Western Balkans in collaboration with partners for the fifth consecutive year.

We continue the tradition of gathering with the desire to exchange knowledge and experiences, to learn from examples of best practices, and to discover the most effective ways of connecting education and modern technologies.

Dejan Nikolić

Position: Galaksija Cup (ten years)

Dejan Nikolić graduated from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš. He is currently employed as a teacher at the Technical School in Zaječar. He participates in programs organized by Junior Achievement Serbia, the Petlja Foundation (“Teacher for the 21st Century” program), and the Institute for Education and Upbringing (as a member of the team for the final exam in the field of Computer Engineering). He is also involved in the Erasmus program at his school and is a member of the Engineering Chamber of Serbia. He is the initiator of the Galaksija Cup competition and the Winter School of Programming in Zaječar. As a mentor, he has guided student teams participating in competitions organized by the Talent Center, the Student Project Conference of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš, Metropolitan University, and the Best Technological Innovation competition in Serbia.

Dobrinka Kuzmanović is an Associate Professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philology, holding a PhD in Psychological Sciences. Her research focuses on development and learning in formal educational contexts, digital literacy of students and staff in educational institutions, safe online behavior, digital well-being of youth, and related areas. She has gained extensive research experience through leading and participating in numerous national and international projects. She is the author of monographs, scientific articles, educational policy documents, training programs, and professional guides. Dobrinka has received numerous awards, including the Živorad Žiža Vasić Award for the popularization of contemporary psychology (2024), the Dragan Janjić Award for media literacy (2023), and the EdTech Western Balkan Awards for contributions to digital education (2021).

Dr. Paul Atherton is the founder and CEO of Fab and AI-for-Education.org, its flagship initiative. The initiative is working to ensure that children in low-income countries benefit equally from AI innovations in education, and that AI is harnessed to help solve the learning crisis. Dragana Malešević

Position: QR Codes as a Tool for Digital Learning and Play in Early Childhood

Dr. Dragana Malešević holds two doctoral degrees – one in Didactic-Methodological Sciences and another in Pedagogical Sciences. She is employed as a professor at VŠSSOV in Kikinda. In her work with students, she utilizes various digital learning tools to develop their digital competencies. Her books on QR codes, part of the “Books to Grow With” series, won the Children’s Book of the Year award at the 2023 International Book Fair in Belgrade. In the same year, the publisher PROVENS received a Special Award at the International Book Fair in Novi Sad for their contribution to children’s publishing, thanks to these books. She has also integrated the use of QR codes into Serbian-Russian and Serbian-English children’s dictionaries, enabling audio-visual foreign language learning.

Duša Vuković

Position: Oracle Academy curriculums dedicated to artificial intelligence

Duša is the Principal of the Computer Grammar School in Belgrade, and a teacher of computer science subjects at both the Mathematical Grammar School and the Computer Grammar School in Belgrade. She is an Oracle Academy Instructor for international teacher training programs in database and Java programming courses, and holds the professional title of Pedagogical Advisor.

She is one of the authors of the national curriculum for Classes for Students with Special Aptitudes in Computing and Informatics, implemented in over 50 high schools across Serbia, as well as a trainer for teacher professional development and an author of digital textbooks for teachers and students in Database and Object-Oriented Programming courses (Institute for the Improvement of Education).

Duša is the author of several books in the field of programming, including two officially approved high school textbooks for the subject Computer Science and Informatics in the third and fourth grades. She is the recipient of several awards, such as:

Creative School 2008/09 (Serbia) – Second Prize in the high school category for the project “Modern Technologies in the Practical Application of Theoretical Knowledge and Teamwork of Students”

European Forum of Innovative Teachers, Microsoft, 2008 (Croatia) – Third Prize in the Collaboration category for the project “Exploring Science through Blogging” and participation in the World Forum of Innovative Teachers, Microsoft, Hong Kong, China.

The Oracle Academy has been advancing computer science globally for more than 25 years, fostering knowledge acquisition, skill development, innovation, and diversity in technology-related fields.

During this presentation, ways of collaboration with primary, secondary, and higher education institutions will be presented, as well as curricula and teaching materials that are freely available to educators through this partnership, with a special focus on artificial intelligence courses.

Selected Oracle tools can be used free of charge in teaching, and students can obtain internationally recognized certificates, both within the Database subject in IT departments of high schools across Serbia and in other schools offering modern computer science courses.
